Diane Louise Jordan joined the Humber EBLO in celebrating another year of success
The Education Business Link Organisation (EBLO) celebrated another year of success by hosting an Awards evening.
The annual event this year was held at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel in Willerby on 5th July. Pupils, teachers and businesses from all around the Humber sub-region received awards for their work in establishing links between education and business. In total 37 awards were presented in the categories including Work Experience Awards, Mentoring, Young Apprenticeship, Young Enterprise, Professional Development, AimHigher and the Education Business Partnership Awards.
There were several winners from the East Riding including Catherine Holt of Headlands and Community Science College, who won the “pupil who has performed exceptionally well on work experience”, Jhenna Pollard of Vermuyden School who won the “pupil who has benefited the most from work experience” and Samantha Brook of Croda International who won the Mentoring Award.
Sandra Cooper, General Manager, Humber EBLO, said : ‘The awards ceremony is our opportunity to recognise all of the hard work that EBLO staff, pupils, teachers and business put in over the year. We were delighted to present so many awards to mark all the effort and achievements put in by supporters of the Humber EBLO.
‘The standard of entries has again been very high this year and the judges found the decision-making process very tough. The winners of the categories are very worthy people and their efforts have significantly helped Humber EBLO to promote education and business links in the region .’
All winners were presented with either a glass trophy or gift vouchers from the sponsors of the awards – The Humber Economic Partnership, BP Chemical, Yorkshire Forward, Connexions Humber and the Learning and Skills Council.
The 240 winners and guests alike were also given an inspiring talk ex-Blue Peter presenter and author Diane Louise Jordan who delighted everyone with the tales of her time with the Blue Peter team and the challenges that she has overcome on her journey to success. |
